If there are more than 5 red blood cells in each high power field, it is hematuria. If only red blood cells are detected under a microscope, but the eyes cannot see bloody urine, it is called microscopic hematuria, If the eyes can see blood in the urine, or even bloodshot or blood clot in the urine, it is called gross hematuria.
         It is believed that hematuria is mostly caused by the accumulation of heat in the kidneys. Diet therapy should be based on cooling blood and purging fire, nourishing yin and stopping bleeding. In the three meals a day, all spicy foods such as wine, green onions, and ginger should be avoided. Roasted foods should not be eaten too; fat foods and seafood should not be eaten uniformly; warm foods should be avoided.
