Germany announced on the 11th that there were 50,196 new confirmed cases, exceeding 50,000 for the first time. Olaf Scholz, who is about to become prime minister, said that further epidemic prevention and restriction measures must be implemented to combat infections with a record high epidemic to "live this winter safely." He convened a meeting of the heads of states to decide on new restrictions.
The Robert Koch Institute, a disease control agency under the German Federal Ministry of Health, said today that the number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 registered in the past 24 hours reached 50,196, exceeding 50,000 for the first time.
The number of people infected and died in Germany has soared since mid-October, mainly due to the relatively low vaccine coverage rate, only slightly higher than 67%.
