Since the discovery of the COVID-19 variant Omicron in November last year, multiple secondary variants have been detected around the world. Among them, BA.2 has been found in nearly 60 countries including Brazil. It is more infectious and has attracted great attention from the scientific community.
The Brazilian Ministry of Health reported that it had been notified of seven cases of the Omicron variant BA.2, including another three in the state of Sao Paulo and one in Rio.
According to the available data, patients infected with BA.2 in Denmark account for more than 60% of all new COVID-19 cases, and local experts point out that other countries are also likely, but countries with high vaccination rates will be able to avoid a new wave of hospitalizations, it will not prolong the global epidemic for too long.
Denmark lifts epidemic prevention restrictions and coexists with Omicron, masks will be waived from February 1.
Due to the stable state of the public health system, the Omicron variant is less severe than other variants, coupled with high vaccine coverage and a high number of infections, and herd immunity has improved. Sweden lifted most of the epidemic prevention ban on the 9th and opened the entry of EU tourists.
The Swedish government announced on the 3rd that starting from the 9th, most of the epidemic prevention bans will be lifted, and the people will return to normal life.
The lifting of the ban includes: there will be no restrictions on the number of people and distance in public places; the suggestion of working from home and remote classes is lifted; restaurants and other business places do not need to check certificates such as vaccine passports; restaurants and bars resume nighttime business hours; or restrictions on sporting competitions; the recommendation to wear masks on public transport during rush hour will also be removed.
