As the more contagious Omicron variant spreads to many countries around the world, Singapore has also recently experienced a wave of epidemics, causing the number of confirmed diagnoses to rise again. Singapore's Ministry of Health noted that the vast majority of cases were mild or asymptomatic.
According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health in the evening, 17,564 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Singapore on March 4, including 2,369 local cases confirmed by PCR nucleic acid test and 15,037 local cases with positive ART test. The rest are imported from abroad. Another 18 new deaths were reported, bringing the total to 1,067 deaths. The Ministry of Health said the weekly rate of increase in cases over the past two days had fallen below one, suggesting the wave may have passed its peak and 'we will continue to monitor the situation closely'.
The number of new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Vietnam continues to surge in a single day. It is normal for more than 100,000 people to contract the virus every day. As most people have been fully vaccinated, officials from the Ministry of Health take the epidemic indifferently, saying that they will gradually treat confirmed people as for general patient treatment.
Vietnam's Ministry of Health said on the 5th that 20 cases of infection related to the Omicron variant have been recorded in 30 districts and counties in Hanoi, and warned that the number of confirmed cases will increase rapidly in the future. A new wave of local COVID-19 outbreaks broke out in Vietnam in late April last year. So far, more than 360,000 people have been infected and about 1,100 people have died in Hanoi.
